As you may have heard, Finland is asking that Greece put up some collateral for further loans. You might ask yourself, what’s a place like Greece got to offer as collateral that would please the Finns? Well we’ve got you covered.

Here are some examples of collateral that might be acceptable:

  • The Parthenon.
  • Seven or eight hours of sunlight.
  • All references to “shining Ithaca” in all printed versions of the Odyssey be changed to “shining Helsinki.”
  • “Greek Olives” be referred to as “Finnish Olives.”
  • Official recognition that Plato’s cave analogy was inspired by the Astuvansalmi rock paintings.
  • Official recognition that King Leonidas was able to hold on as long as he did at Thermopylae due to the assistance of Finnish snipers.
  • All Greek iPhones to be replaced with Nokia phones.
