Note on copyright

Content found on n0d3 is copyright Gahlord Dewald. However, he gladly licenses it under the Creative Commons “Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 License” license because he thinks intellectual property rights (if flawed) are valuable and it’s easy to set the terms. Especially with the ol’ Creative Commons rocking the house.

Attribution Requirements

Sometimes people aren’t sure what an attribution is. Here are some examples you might try when copying, distributing, remixing and transmitting stuff from n0d3:

For web material:

Provide a link in the format: …as found in the n0d3 article “Changing Epistemologies for the Data-Driven

For print material:

Provide link to http://www.n0d3.org/

For audio material:

Voice mention: “www-dot-n-zero-d-three-dot-O-R-G”

Reminder of what Non-commercial means:

Non-commercial license means no financial gain is created by your use of the material. This means that if you are making use of Google or other ad services on the surface containing your use of the copyrighted work, you are in violation of the terms. Content from blogs often gets scraped by zombie blogs which exist solely for collection of money from adsense and other programs. I’ve chosen the non-commercial license because I don’t like zombies. If you’re not a zombie and want to use something I wrote here, just let me know and I’ll likely say yes.

And of course:

You can always ask me if what you want to do with my copyrighted work is OK and I can respond, which could grant you an alteration of these terms.
